“I want to put my observations into each one, I want to show deeper insights into life out here.”
The second episode features Clare Napper, a British artist and entrepreneur who has called Dubai home for more than a decade. After a successful career at an advertising agency, Clare brought her love for the vintage post art form to her own creations that depict scenes from expat Dubai life.
Clare walks us through the inspiration and process for her Dubai Creek poster, and concludes with a few words of advice for new and emerging artists.
Clare has sold over 15,000 posters in her Highlife Dubai series which also includes greeting cards, magnets, notebooks and calendars.

Clare Napper mustered up the courage to leave her advertising agency career to start her own business venture in 2014. What started with a handful of prototype posters turned into an entire collection focused on iconic moments of expat life in Dubai. She reached out to the media about her collection and held an exhibition of her work at Tribeca Dubai which was a roaring success. She hasn’t looked back since that launch night on 24 November, 2014.
That belief, perseverance, and hard work continues to propel Clare and her Highlife brand to new heights.
A series of extremely popular vintage-style posters depicting scenes of expat life in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, supplemented by calendars, notebooks, postcards, coasters, greeting cards, and magnets.
Originally from the UK, Clare has spent the last decade calling Dubai home.
“I like to add humor [to my pieces] where possible, which I find is beauty in the small details of what I’ve noticed.”
